The Day of the Oath

The Sustainable Human -
‘The process of healing, is not defined by the parameters of illness or disease, it is a measure of perception and posture.’

The Day of the Oath
It was a day of great excitement and yet great terror filled my being.  It was a surreal moment of incredible joy when my name was called. With a quick handshake, a very impressive and extremely wordy parchment was offered to me, and… I accepted.
As I looked out into the crowd, my moment of ecstasy turned into a vision of exaggerated alarm. Why did I accept that damn piece of paper with the words… this entitles… (me?)… all rights and privileges… (me?)  Medical Doctor… (Me?)  Heart pounding, head spinning, then the recital of the “Oath”, a sacred vow… (Me?) In one moment, a nanosecond of time, I was forever changed. I had accepted the proverbial Red Pill.

No regrets, it was my calling and my passion and my patients gave to me, immeasurable gifts of soul and of spirit. I learned they were in fact, each their own physician and healer and together we facilitated a process called ‘healing.’
The process of healing, is not defined by the parameters of illness or disease, it is a measure of perception and posture.
Health and Well-Being is Both a State of Mind and a Choice.
With each interaction, I learned focus, presence and compassion and it was with great reverence that I served each day in awe of the innate wisdom and the miraculous strength intrinsically held within each of our being.
What allows one person to ‘heal’ and another to succumb?
Each day and in every encounter I was reminded, we all are so much more than a body of flesh, of incident or illness.
A body does not heal without the will of its director, a collaboration of mind, body and spirit are requisite for the process to unfold.
Many today regard Hippocrates, as the Father of Modern Medicine. He was a pioneer and a futurist and changed the vision and direction of the “healing arts” of his time. Sometime within the space/time of the 5th century Hippocrates' name and image began to emerge as a leader of medical study and thought.  As it is told, Hippocrates’ philosophy deviated from celestial notions of medicine, which at that time was based on ritual prayers and sacrifice to the Gods, and instead he formulated a practice of “observation of the body” as the basis for medical knowledge.
A fundamental concept of keeping of the body in ‘balance’ guided his underlying belief for achieving optimal health.
The Hippocratic Oath of ethics and morals is one of the oldest binding convents known, and is still held sacred, witnessed and recited by graduate physicians to this day. There are many pledges made with this recital of oath, including a pledge, to treat patients according to ability and judgment, to keep patients from harm and injustice and in purity and holiness, to regard all of life and the art.
There is also a sworn agreement and acknowledgment made to-pass on the art of medicine to the next generation of healers and to teach the secrets of the art to the next generation.
Hippocrates, as well as, all pioneers and visionaries of any era, must embody the intent, passion, focus of thought, and unshakable foundation of belief, required to effect change.
A visionary of any time, must redefine the present to evolve the future.
We are entering an exciting time in Earth's narrative.
It is a pivotal time, one of tremendous potential for us both as individuals and as collective members of our Human society.
New discoveries, information and new systems are emerging and redefining and reshaping our world. As these new systems emerge we have an opportunity to step up and assume the role as mentors and caretakers of us, as an Evolving Conscious Species.
We are all healers, physicians, teachers, pioneers and visionaries of this new era.
New concepts in Medicine and Science are emerging and shifting our understanding of our biology and its amazing abilities and attributes.
We have the ability to sustain health, alter our own genetics, and decide by choice our experience intrinsically, naturally... It is what we are designed to do.
It starts with acceptance and acknowledgement, followed by an oath offered to you, by you – to believe that you are so much more than you thought yourself to be.
Medicine and Science are changing, evolving and expanding and currently, a new model is emerging which redirects and redefines the focus of health and wellness. It is timidly, but steadily beginning to recognize and bring to bear evidence that can no longer be denied

It is the cooperative power of the human mind, heart, and spirit to create what was named ‘miracles’, but in fact is the language of the genetics from which we operate.
We are the contemporary fathers, mothers, sons and daughters of a
New Paradigm of Medicine, Science and Healing.
